Alpha Bank Credit Card Applications: Eligibility, Steps, Costs, and Delivery

Applying for an Alpha Bank credit card in Greece involves more than selecting a card. Eligibility, e-Banking access, financial records, digital signing, fees, and delivery timing all affect the process.

Who Can Apply?

This information concerns Alpha Bank, the Greece-based bank operating through alpha.gr, and should not be confused with banks in Turkey or services using the name Alphabank. Applicants generally need permanent residence in Greece, a Greek mobile phone number, and a Greek identity card. The basic age range is 18 to 75.

Alpha Bank assesses the requested credit limit by reviewing credit history and information held in Greece's Tiresias credit information system. Approval therefore depends on the bank's eligibility and credit assessment rather than on application submission alone.

For online applications, personal details, home and work addresses, telephone information, occupation, and financial information from the past year should be current in Alpha Bank's records. If details are outdated, they can be updated through a mobile device or computer before the application. An eGov-KYC update may require Taxisnet credentials.

Available Application Channels

There are three main routes: myAlpha Mobile, myAlpha Web, and an Alpha Bank branch. The bank's general card information also indicates that direct online application through alpha.gr may be available, and existing Alpha Bank customers are not necessarily required for every application route.

The cards displayed for e-Banking applications can vary. The online application screen identifies Alpha Bank Bonus Visa, AEGEAN Bonus Visa, and Affinity Mastercard. At certain times, products such as AEGEAN Bonus Visa Premium and Gold Bonus cards may also appear. The card list and conditions shown during the application should therefore be treated as the relevant options.

Only one credit card application can be pending at a time. A new application cannot be submitted while an earlier one remains pending. Applicants who bank with a passport or residence permit instead of a Greek identity card may need to arrange an appointment at a branch rather than use the standard online route.

How the Online Process Works

An existing e-Banking customer begins by signing in to myAlpha Mobile or myAlpha Web. The menu path is New products, Credit cards, and Get credit card. The preferred card is then selected from the products displayed.

For an AEGEAN Bonus Visa or AEGEAN Bonus Visa Premium application, Miles+Bonus card information is entered. The applicant then chooses the Alpha Bank account from which card payments will be collected, accepts the pre-contract information, answers three short questions, and selects the preferred card delivery location if the application proceeds.

Applications submitted through e-Banking between 06:00 and 22:00 may receive a result immediately, according to Alpha Bank's stated process. Applications sent between 22:00 and 06:00 are received for processing, with the result sent by email in the morning. These timeframes describe notification handling, not a promise of approval.

Digital Signing and Card Availability

When an application is accepted for the next stage, the agreement is signed digitally. The applicant confirms personal information, accepts the digital signature terms, and enters a six-digit code sent to the Greek mobile phone number. Digital signing must be completed within three days; otherwise, the application is cancelled and the process must begin again.

The signed agreement is sent to the registered email address and remains available in the e-Banking My documents area. A separate paper signature at a branch is not required under this process.

Digital card availability and physical delivery are separate stages. Alpha Bank's detailed online flow indicates that the new card may appear in e-Banking within three business days, followed by a notification when it is ready. Card details may support online purchases or digital-wallet use through myAlpha Mobile before the physical card arrives.

Delivery and Activation

Physical delivery periods stated by Alpha Bank vary by channel or process, with official explanations referring to five to seven business days in one context and eight to ten business days in another. A secure delivery address is important, and the estimate displayed during the application should take priority.

After receiving the physical card, activation can take place through myAlpha Web or myAlpha Mobile. In myAlpha Web, the card menu beside the card on the home screen includes Activate Card. The card expiry date is then entered. In the mobile application, the Cards area contains the Activate card option.

Customers without e-Banking details can activate the card at an Alpha Bank ATM after receiving the PIN. If the new card does not appear in e-Banking, manual addition to the system may be necessary.

Interest Rates and Annual Fees

Card costs deserve attention before submission. In Alpha Bank's interest table dated August 5, 2026, Alpha Bank Bonus Visa is listed at 17.75% for purchases and 19.00% for cash advances. Alpha Bank Bonus Visa Gold is listed at 15.75% and 18.00%, while Platinum Bonus Visa is listed at 13.75% and 18.00%.

Aegean Bonus Visa is listed at 15.75% for purchases and 18.00% for cash advances. Affinity Mastercard is listed at 19.20% and 21.45%. A 0.60% contribution under Greek Law 128/75 is added to these rates. Late-payment interest is applied at the contractual rate plus 2.5 percentage points.

Annual fees depend on the card. The listed fees include 80 euros for Platinum Bonus Mastercard and Platinum Bonus Visa, 50 euros for Alpha Bank Bonus Visa Gold and Bonus Mastercard Gold, and 30 euros for standard Alpha Bank Bonus Visa and Bonus Mastercard. Aegean Bonus Visa Premium is listed at 80 euros, Aegean Bonus Visa at 40 euros, and Affinity Mastercard at 30 euros.

Some cards may include first-year fee waivers or Bonus points linked to an initial transaction. For example, the standard Alpha Bank Bonus Visa page states that no annual fee applies in the first year, followed by a 30-euro annual fee in later years, along with 3,000 Bonus points for the first transaction. Campaign duration and conditions should be checked at the time of application.

Options for New Alpha Bank Customers

People without an Alpha Bank account may be able to open an initial account through the mobile application and receive e-Banking credentials. The stated requirements include being over 18, holding a Greek identity card, permanently residing and being tax resident in Greece, and having an email address and Greek mobile number.

The account-opening process may involve Taxisnet details, identity verification, and a video call. It also includes a condition concerning non-residence for tax purposes in the United States. A customer who encounters difficulties with an application can arrange a branch appointment or contact Alpha Bank customer service at +30 210 326 0000.

Making an Informed Application Decision

The Alpha Bank credit card process depends on Greek residency and identification requirements, accurate bank records, an available e-Banking route or branch appointment, and successful digital signing within three days. Comparing the displayed card options, interest rates, annual fees, delivery estimate, and activation method can help applicants choose a suitable path with clearer expectations.
